Time slots are still available for the free COVID-19 testing that is available in Alexandria through this Thursday, Oct., 15.
The Minnesota Department of Health announced the locations for no-barrier access to COVID-19 testing, including one in Alexandria.
Alexandria’s no-barrier testing site is at 2310 Hwy. 29 S (the former Kmart building) from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, through Thursday, Oct. 15.
No-barrier testing is a response to the increased COVID-19 community spread statewide. This testing will be free for anyone, whether they have symptoms or not. No insurance or identification is needed.
Health officials are using testing data to identify communities that are experiencing workplace clusters, are close to bordering states or haven’t yet had large-scale testing. These free testing locations are being provided to increase the geographic balance of testing across Minnesota and respond where the health risk is greatest, according to a news release.
Testing will be done with a nasal swab and processed by Mayo Clinic Laboratories or the University of Minnesota. Other no-barrier testing locations available Oct. 13-15 will be Anoka, Faribault, Luverne, Aitkin and St. Cloud.
