The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Douglas County now stands at 10, according to figures released Tuesday, May 5, by the Minnesota Department of Health.

The state recorded 617 new cases of coronavirus, including one in Pope County, its first confirmed case.

Case counts in other nearby counties: Stearns — 815 (and two deaths), Otter Tail — 19, Todd — 15, Grant — one, and Stevens — zero.

Stearns County's total includes 87 new cases.

The statewide total is now 7,851 persons, but that number is believed to be an undercount. The outbreaks and intensified testing associated with meat processing continued to make their presence known in the state.

Nobles County added 58 cases, reaching 1,011, while Kandiyohi County added 12 more cases, reaching 200.

The death total from the virus in the state is now 455.
