Free masks for businesses in Douglas County are flying off the shelves at the Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce.
The masks are being distributed by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development to chambers throughout the state to give to local businesses.
When the distribution started on Thursday morning, July 30, eight businesses came into the Alexandria chamber right away. As of about 2:30 p.m. later that day, a total of 48 businesses stopped by and each received one box containing 50 masks. So that's a total of 2,400 masks.
There are still plenty of masks available though. The chamber received a total of 24,000 masks.
The masks are available for businesses to pick up during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
These masks are for businesses only (not individuals) and are meant for use when customers/clients/visitors enter the place of business without a mask. They are not meant for employees.
