It turns out those forecasts of close to a foot of snow for the Alexandria area were on target after all.
The area's first winter storm of the season made an impression, with the National Weather Service receiving a report of 13.2 inches of snow in Alexandria. Much of the snow fell overnight Friday and Saturday, with breaks in the snow during portions of the day Saturday.
That was easily the highest snow total in the area, with 7.5 in Round Prairie, reports of 7 and 10.5 in Browerville, 2.4 in Hoffman, and 9.3 and 10.0 in Fergus Falls. Parkers Prairie reported 6.0 inches of snow, but that was as of 9:15 p.m. Saturday.
Branching out, there were reports of 10.5 and 10.0 in Detroit Lakes, 12.5 and 13.1 in Brainerd, 8.9 and 9.3 in Fargo, and 15.2 in Breezy Point.
As for this week, no precipitation is in the forecast through Saturday.
