ALEXANDRIA — West Central Minnesota Communities Action, located at 1910 Aga Dr., Suite 206 in Alexandria, will host the Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce Wake Up Alexandria event on Friday, April 7, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
Wake Up Alexandria is a chamber networking event that is open to everyone. It offers an opportunity for attendees to learn about the businesses and organizations within the community. A $1 admission is requested, with all proceeds donated to the day’s nonprofit recipient, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
All chamber members will be placed in a drawing for the Pot of Gold, which is currently valued at more than $5,500.
West Central Minnesota Communities Action, Inc. was established in 1965 as part of the national war on poverty and is one of approximately 1,000 community action programs nationwide that make up the service delivery arm of the federal Office of Economic Opportunity.
The 501(c)3 nonprofit collaborates with others to address community needs and challenges by building upon local community assets with the mission to “empower people while providing services and resources that impact individuals and communities.” The organization offers resources in the area of energy assistance, housing, children and education, older adults, finances, health and transportation.
