Schools in the area are closed or running late today, Monday, because of a winter storm.

As of 7:50 am., Alexandria, Brandon, Evansville, Osakis, Minnewaska, West Central Area and Parkers Prairie schools are closed.

The Douglas County area is under a winter storm warning. Snowfall accumulations of between two to five inches have already been measured in the area and snow is expected to accumulate even more today, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast calls for snowfall to become moderate across the area by mid to late morning and last through the afternoon and evening.

The total snowfall accumulation during the two days of the storm could range between eight and 13 inches in the Alexandria area, according to the National Weather Service.
