Two injured in crash with semi near Alexandria

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on County Road 27 near the Hardwood Hills Golf Course west of Alexandria on Wednesday, Sept. 8.

Gary Kosteca, 84, of Eden Prairie was driving a 2010 Ford Expedition south on County Road 27 in LaGrand Township, when it struck a Kenworth semi that was attempting to back into a residence, according to the State Patrol..

Kostecka, and his passenger, Patricia Kostecka, 85, of Eden Prairie were both injured. Patricia was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital with life-threatening injuries, while Gary was taken to Alomere Health in Alexandria with non-life-threatening injuries. They were not wearing seat belts, according to the State Patrol.

The semi driver, Danny Hagen, 68, of Alexandria wasn't injured.

The State Patrol, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, North Memorial Ambulance and Garfield Fire Department and First Responders assisted at the crash, which happened at about 11:35 a.m.
