Lane closures are back Tuesday for those driving near Alexandria on Interstate 94.

The closures are part of the Lake Latoka bridge replacement project. The $2.5 million project involves replacing the eastbound bridge over Lake Latoka, near Exit 100 west of Alexandria. The westbound bridge was replaced in 2018.

That was one of two major road construction projects the Minnesota Department of Transportation undertook this summer in the Douglas County. The other was concrete resurfacing on the eastbound section of I-94 from Highway 114 near Garfield to Highway 29 near Alexandria. The $5.7 million project began in April, with a September completion date.

Road crews will be on site for several days to remove the crossovers that were in place this summer during the Lake Latoka bridge replacement project, the DOT said. It encourages people to drive with caution, slow down in the work zone and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
