Starbuck woman dies in semi versus pickup crash in Pope County

The driver of the semi was Melanee McKale, 52, of Starbuck. McKale was pronounced dead at the scene.

POPE COUNTY — A Starbuck woman is dead following a semi versus pickup truck crash in Pope County on Friday, Nov. 18.

At approximately 12:02 p.m., Pope County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a semi versus pickup truck crash on County Road 18 near Selnes Road.

The pickup was driven by Denis Zinke, 44, of Sauk Centre. Zinke was transported by ambulance to the Glacial Ridge Hospital and treated for his injuries.

The driver of the semi was Melanee McKale, 52, of Starbuck. McKale was pronounced dead at the scene.

Responding to the scene were Pope County Sheriff’s Office, Glenwood Police Department, Starbuck Police Department, State Patrol, Glacial Ridge Ambulance and Glenwood Fire.

The Pope County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol with this investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
