In remembrance of 9/11 and the terrorist attacks that killed 2,996 people on Sept. 11, 2001, the grassy area between 3M and Cenex along Broadway in Alexandria will be covered with U.S. flags – one for every person who died.
The flags will be on display from sunset on Sept. 10 through sunset on Sept. 12.
Additionally, the Douglas County Honor Guard will conduct ceremonies on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 8:58 and 9:28 a.m. and the public is invited. Patriotic music will be provided by Chelsea Lee and firefighters from the Garfield Fire Department will be present.
A large flag will hang over the field, provided by the Alexandria Fire Department.
