The Citizens League for Environmental and Economic Responsibility (CLEER) is still taking sign-ups for septic system inspections and upgrades through July 31.
Signing up does not obligate a septic system owner to anything, according to CLEER.
CLEER will use the sign-ups to negotiate bulk pricing and to apply for grants to help reduce or eliminate the cost for the work.
The program is being extended to anyone in Douglas County, not just properties in the previous Central Lakes Region Sanitary District.
CLEER will continue to take sign-ups for a little while after the deadline, but once the program is closed, septic system owners may not be able to sign up or be eligible for discounts.

CLEER members issued the following statement: "Homeowners, it is your responsibility to have compliant septic systems and this is your chance to do it at a very reduced price. Failed septic systems are the leading cause of centralized sewer projects and urban sprawl. Take control of your wastewater destiny today and save tens of thousands of dollars."
