Former Alexandria resident Dave Shelstad learned recently that he got his name in the record books with this giant buck he bagged.

Dave Shelstad, a former Alexandria resident, got his name in the record books with this whitetail deer, the largest ever taken in Stevens County and the first from that county to make the Boone and Crockett record book. The deer scored 176-2/8 typical. Shelstad, with the help of Alexandria residents Eldon Shelstad and Wayne Claasen, took first place in the Minnesota Deer Classic in St. Paul.
