OSAKIS — The Osakis City Council approved a resolution granting a request from Veterans Support Brigade to have pull tabs at Knight's Pub & Grub.

The action was taken at the council's regular meeting, which was held Monday, Feb. 14.

Veterans Support Brigade is a non-profit group that does charitable gambling to provide financial support to Minnesota organizations that provide support and services to veterans.

"We try to keep it as much as we can to veterans' causes, but we're not just limited to veterans' causes. There's always needs everywhere," said Steve Andersen, who represented the group at the meeting.

Andersen said Veterans Support Brigade has charitable gambling at several different locations in Minnesota, such as Princeton and St. Joseph, and that donations are kept as close as possible to the community where they were raised.

Under the resolution, Veterans Support Brigade will have pull tabs starting on April 1, unless the current renters pull out early, in which case it would start on March 1.
