As Peter Joseph Schlosser grew older, he moved to the Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria where he died on January 17, 2008, at the age of 83.
Peter was born in Belle River Township, Douglas County, on March 9, 1924, to Christian and Mary Therese (Pichler) Schlosser. Peter attended District #62 school and grew to manhood in the Belle River area.
Peter was inducted into the United States Army in June 1944 and spent most of his active duty time in the South Pacific Theater of Operations. His group fought against the Japanese in the Philippines until the Japanese surrender in 1945. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
On October 10, 1947, Peter was united in marriage to Adeline Hagen at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River. They lived on a farm north of Belle River and sold that farm to his brother, Awald, in 1953. Peter went to work in the plumbing business and eventually owned his own plumbing business.
His wife died in 1968 and Peter continued to care for and raise his young family. They moved to Alexandria in 1970. He truly enjoyed polka music and loved tinkering with electronics.
He is survived by his children, David Schlosser, Linda Maples, Deborah Hinnenkamp, Theresa Lukes, Rita Froemming, Donna Schlosser and Lisa Brandt; his brother, Clemens Schlosser; grandchildren, David Norling, Jodi Schneider, Stacy Shrestha, Christina Brandt, Denene Wilson, Stephanie Heinz, Shannon Lukes, Russell Froemming, Ben Lukes and Jacob Schlosser; great-grandchildren, Spencer Norling, Brenden Wilson, Taylor Wilson and Ashley Froemming.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Adeline; daughter, Rebecca Schlosser; and brothers, Ludwig, Awald, Vincent, Alphonse and Ambrose.

Interment was at the church cemetery with Ben Lukes, Russell Froemming, David Norling, Denene Wilson, Brian Maples and Jacob Schlosser serving as pallbearers.
