ALEXANDRIA — A Parkers Prairie man was sentenced on a felony sex charge at Douglas County District Court on Tuesday, April 12.
Zachary Levi Wittmer, 33, was convicted of one count of felony criminal sexual conduct in the second degree — sexual contact with a victim under 13 (defendent more than 36 months older than the victim).
Wittmer was placed on supervised probation for 25 years, must pay $135 in fees and was sentenced to 90 days in the Douglas County Jail, with one day credit for time served.
He must also follow a number of conditions, including attending a sex offender program, registering as a predatory offender and having no contact with his victim.
The charge carried a maximum sentence of 25 years imprisonment and/or a $35,000 fine.
Wittmer was initially charged with two counts of felony criminal sexual conduct in the first degree in relation to an incident in which he assaulted a 10-year-old in 2018.
These charges and another charge of felony criminal sexual conduct in the second degree were dismissed as part of a plea agreement in which he agreed to plead guilty to the count of which he was convicted.
