Osakis City Council approves Taste of Osakis event application

OSAKIS — The Osakis City Council approved a special event application for the Taste of Osakis festival, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The action was taken at the council's regular meeting on Monday, July 11.

The festival will feature such attractions as vendors, bull-riding and the musical groups, Junkyard Caddy and the Eli Young Band.

Lift station

The council also voted to accept a bid to get new pumps for the lift station at the main boat landing. The current pumps are approximately 40 years old.

According to a document provided to the council, the bid from Tri-State Pump shows a total of $112,136, and is being updated to show expedited delivery, which should be around $118,000.

The time of the expedited delivery is three to four weeks, the document read.

The city will seek to obtain funding through Minnesota Rural Water.

Filing date

The filing date for the mayor and two council positions was also announced.

Filing will be held from Aug 2-16, with city hall being open for filings until 5 p.m. on Aug. 16.

The filing fee is $2.

The mayoral term is for two years, while the council positions have four-year terms.
