OSAKIS — A no parking zone covering part of County Road 3 by the Osakis school was approved by the Douglas County Board.

The announcement was made by city council member Al Larson at the Osakis City Council's regular meeting on Monday, June 13.

The zone relates to a parking issue on the west side of County Road 3. Several parents had complained about traffic conditions and illegal parking during the time when parents are picking their kids up after school.

Larson made a presentation about the matter to the county board on Tuesday, May 17.

"We asked them to have no parking from Oak Street all the way in front of the school past the elementary entrance," Larson said Monday. "There was no issues with that whatsoever. Unanimous vote.

"They also laid the groundwork for us to be able to shut down semi traffic coming off of 197 onto County Road 3," he said.

Parts of County Road 3 will be available to semi traffic so it can access the industrial park, Larson said.

"(The county board) seemed very open to that," he said.
