OSAKIS — An Osakis church is hosting an event designed to bring a little Christmas cheer and fellowship to area residents.
Elim Lutheran Church is hosting a free community Christmas dinner on Sunday, Dec. 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
In addition to the meal at the church, meals will also be delivered to people in the area who are unable to attend.
"The church has never done anything like this before," said Pastor Luke Kjolhaug. "We just looked around, (and) we saw a need. The holidays, Christmas especially, can be a difficult time for a lot of people. Even while we're celebrating and joyful, for many it's a reminder of loved ones they've lost. …
"It's a gift, it's a blessing, and we're just thankful to be able to participate," he said.

The meal will consist of roast beef, potatoes, vegetables, stuffing and desserts, Kjolhaug said.
The church anticipates a couple hundred people to attend the dinner, and to deliver food to more than 50 additional people, Kjolhaug said.
"We're just happy to be able to do this, and we're looking forward to being able to connect with our community," he said.
For those who are unable to attend but would like a meal delivered, call the church at 320-859-4244 and leave a message with your information.
