Blood donations can drop during the summer when many blood donors are vacationing, however, the need for blood is constant.
Every day, 38,000 pints of blood are needed for patients across the United States, according to the American Red Cross.
"By donating blood, you can make a real difference in someone else's life," said Geoff Kaufmann, CEO of the local Red Cross North Central Blood Services Region. "Do some good this summer and make an appointment to donate blood."
Eligible individuals can give blood every 56 days. By making regular blood donations, you can help the Red Cross ensure that there is enough blood to meet patient needs this summer and throughout the year.

- August 3, 1 to 6 p.m. at Church of the Seven Dolors, 16921 County Road 7, Brandon.
- August 4, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Alexandria Armory, 311 Broadway Street, Alexandria.
To donate blood, call 1-800-GIVELIVE (1-800-448-3543) or visit givebloodgivelife.org to make an appointment or to receive more information. A blood donor card or driver's license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Eligible donors must by at least 17 years old, must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.
