The Minnesota State Demographic Center will hold a Census 2010 and Complete Count Committee town hall meeting on Tuesday, July 28.

It will take place at 10 a.m. in the city council chambers of Alexandria City Hall.

The meeting will feature a short presentation on Complete Count Committees - what they do, why they are important and how to form them - followed by time for questions about the 2010 census.

Elected officials and community leaders from communities surrounding Alexandria are encouraged to attend.

Minnesota is one of a handful of states in jeopardy of losing a congressional seat through the reapportionment that will follow the census.

The 2010 census will also impact Minnesota's representation in local, state and the federal government.

The accuracy of the decennial census count will have significant weight on how more than $300 billion in federal dollars will be distributed annually to communities throughout the U.S. and Minnesota.

The meeting will last approximately an hour or until everyone's questions are answered.
