Math League takes first at second meet

The Alexandria Area High School (AAHS) Math League had its second meet of the season on Monday, November 24. The Alexandria Team finished in first place.

The Alexandria Area High School (AAHS) Math League had its second meet of the season on Monday, November 24. The Alexandria Team finished in first place.
Team scores were Alexandria (68), Pelican Rapids (57), Moorhead (45), Detroit Lakes (42), Fergus Falls (42) and Breckenridge (36).
Alexandria’s top individual scorers for this meet were Matthew Bittmann and Kim Snell, with 10 points. They were followed closely by Chad Blank and Jake Wheeler, who each scored nine points.
Other participants included Brooke Bitzan, Carl Branch, Eric Branch, Laura Dahlquist, Molly Doyle, Abigail Eck, Nathan Eck, Kagan Foster, Katie Gieseke, Hattie Gompf, Tyler Kay, Joslyn Kent, Bruce Navratil, CJ Schlosser, Halley Score, Jazmin Steidl, Dalton Struck-Nosal, Luke Tollefson and Cody Weisel.
Team scores are calculated by combining the scores of eight preselected individuals on individual exams and points earned during a team exam. During the individual rounds, students have 12 minutes to complete four math problems.
The problems cover different topics in algebra, geometry, advanced algebra, trigonometry and pre-calculus.
Alexandria’s next meet is Monday, December 15 in Fergus Falls.
