School is back in session in Alexandria

According to the Alexandria Public Schools calendar, students in grades 9 through 12 have a total of 174 contact days, while middle school students (grades 6-8) have 173 days and elementary students (PreK-5) have 171 days.

ALEXANDRIA — Students in the Alexandria School District have four days under their belt with about 170 more to go – at least for students at the Alexandria Area High School.

According to the Alexandria Public Schools calendar, students in grades 9 through 12 have a total of 174 contact days, while middle school students (grades 6-8) have 173 days and elementary students (PreK-5) have 171 days.

Conferences are slated for mid-October with no school for PreK-8 students on Oct. 19.

MEA break takes place for all grade levels with no school on Oct. 20 and 21.

There will be no school Nov. 7 for all grades levels as it is a professional development day.

Thanksgiving break will take place this year on Nov. 24 and 25 with no school for all grade levels. Winter break will begin on Dec. 23 with students off until Jan. 3.
On Jan. 16, there will be no school for all students as it is a teacher workshop day.

There is no school on Feb. 17 for all grades and also on Feb. 20, all grades have no school as it is a professional development day.

Conferences are again slated in March, taking place March 9, 10 and 13 with PreK-5 students having no school on March 10.

There will be no school on March 17 for PreK-5 students. Students in grades 6-12, however, will have school that day.

Students in all grades have no school on April 6 and 7, April 10 and also on May 29. The last day of school for the 2022-23 school year will be on June 1 for all grade levels. Graduation is set to take place on June 2.

There are several other days scheduled throughout the year where students will have a two-hour late start, including Sept. 28, Feb. 1 and March 29.
