Bill Peabody of Alexandria received this photo in the mail from the North Dakota National Guard in recognition of his 22 years of service, 14 of it in Fargo. It was taken over Washington, D.C., on the day of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Peabody, who retired in 1988, also worked as an airplane mechanic at Bellanca Aircraft in Alexandria.
