The West Central Area girls' basketball team won its third game in a row last Friday night by defeating Pelican Rapids 71-56.

Liza Torgerson led four WCA players in double figures with 17 points. DeLaine Ronhovde, Estee Juergens and Krystal Lacey all provided offense with 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Vikings jumped out to an early lead, but the Knights worked their offense and Torgerson and Juergens scored a combined 23 points in the first half. Juergens was automatic from the free-throw line in the first half, going a perfect 8 for 8.

WCA stretched an eight-point halftime lead to 20 in the final five minutes of the game to secure another Heart O' Lakes Conference victory.

"We did some good things tonight, offensively," head coach Pat Anderson said. "We moved the ball around well. Anytime you have four girls in double figures you know the offense was very unselfish. We need to continue that as it gives our opponents a hard time as to who they need to defend."

The win moves the Knights to 10-2 overall and 7-1 in the HOL. They got their shot at the conference leaders last night when they traveled to Hawley. The Nuggets are 6-0 in conference play and 8-2 overall.
