Parents of children who will be 5 years old by Sept. 1 may access the portal to complete the necessary forms and scan documents such as child’s birth certificate and preschool screening (if not completed in Alexandria Public Schools). Register your child by Feb. 27.

Other helpful resources at the web portal include a kindergarten brochure, kindergarten video, registration checklist, school age childcare flyer, and FAQs. Registered families will receive information about kindergarten sneak-a-peek events in the spring and orientation events in August.

Families with children already enrolled in the district

Families with other children already enrolled in the district may log into the portal with their current ParentVUE user ID and password and then follow the online wizard. When you get to your students, if your child is not listed, use the add student button.

Students new to the district

If you have an email on file with Alexandria Schools, a message will be sent with your new MyAlexSchools Portal account on Monday, Feb. 6. You will use these credentials when you click on the Online Registration link to start the registration process. If you are unsure if you have an email on file or if you do not receive your credentials, please contact your child’s elementary school office, and they will be able to provide this information.

If you are unable to complete requested documentation, please complete as much information as possible and the school district will reach out for missing documents.

For families who do not have computer or smart phone access or need assistance with completing the online registration, call the district’s enrollment coordinator, Wendy Fridgen, at 320-762-2141 ext. 4510 or email to arrange a time to come in and meet in person. Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
