Holmes City man injured in house explosion
The incident is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal Office.
HOLMES CITY — A Holmes City man was injured when a explosion happened inside his home Tuesday, July 5.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was called to a residence at 6128 County Road 4w southwest in Holmes City at 11:51 a.m.
The homeowner, Scott Bany, 62, was the only one home at the time. He was injured in the explosion, receiving burns to several parts of his body, according to a family member on scene. Bany was treated by North Memorial Ambulance personnel and then airlifted by LifeLink lll for further medical treatment.
The State Fire Marshal's Office was summoned to the scene to assist with the investigation. The Alexandria Fire Department also responded to the scene.
According to Alexandria Fire Chief Jeff Karrow, his firefighters have been busy as they also responded to a house fire around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at a residence at 1907 North McKay Avenue and also responded to a large dumpster fire shortly after 5:45 a.m. at McDonald's at 853 Highway 29 North.
