The Coalition for a Secure Energy Future recently honored Rep. Mary Franson, R-Alexandria, as an “Energy Champion.”

Recipients of the award have championed an all-of-the-above energy strategy for Minnesota to ensure that consumers and businesses have access to affordable and reliable electricity, the coalition said in a news release.

"Minnesotans need reliable and affordable energy that is generated here in America , rather than sending money and jobs overseas to countries with no environmental standards and who exploit slave labor," said Franson. "I'm proud to fight for an all-of-the-above energy strategy that keeps energy bills affordable for families, harnesses new technology, promotes American energy independence, and ensures that our grid is there when Minnesotans need it most."

“The coalition is proud to recognize the work of Rep. Mary Franson who is dedicated to ensuring that hardworking Minnesota families have access to affordable and reliable electricity,” said Luke Hellier, director for the coalition. “As a community leader, Rep. Franson knows that access to affordable and reliable electricity is crucial for our region to be globally competitive. Rep. Franson has provided leadership in creating policy that promotes cheaper and cleaner electricity by utilizing next generation technologies.”
