Douglas County property owners are encouraged to pay their second half property taxes without visiting the courthouse, however, in-person payments will be accepted. The taxes are due Thursday, Oct. 15.
“The courthouse is unusually busy due to absentee ballot requests,” said Douglas County Auditor-Treasurer Char Rosenow. “We encourage people to avoid a line and pay their taxes through one of the other methods available.”
Payment options are:
Using the tax payment drop box at the south side entrance to the courthouse at 305 8th Avenue West Alexandria. The drop box is locked and is checked several times a day. A receipt is available by including a note with payment.
Mailing tax payments, in the envelope provided, to the Douglas County Auditor/Treasurer’s Office at 305 8th Avenue West, Alexandria MN 56308. Include the tax payment stub along with a check. A receipt is available by including a note with payment.
Paying online by credit card or e-check using the Douglas County website www.co.douglas.mn.us and looking under the quick link “I Want To” and clicking on Pay Property Taxes. People will need to include their parcel id number (9-digit number on tax statement) to pull up the tax payment information on the parcel. Property owners can pay by credit card which includes a 2.5% fee, or by electronic check which charges an additional $1.50 up until a $10,000 payment, after which the fee increases.
