The first-half tax payments by owners of mobile homes in Douglas County are due on or before Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Payments may be made in person from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Auditor/Treasurer’s Office on the first floor of the courthouse at 305 8th Ave. W., Alexandria. Payments can also be put in a tax payment drop box outside the building, on the south side of the courthouse.

For those mailing their tax payment, envelopes must be postmarked no later than Tuesday, Sept. 3, to avoid penalty. The Douglas County Courthouse will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, for Labor Day.

As an extra convenience for taxpayers, county auditor/treasurer Char Rosenow reminds residents that the county offers an ACH direct payment program, where a tax payment will automatically be taken out of the designated account on the tax due date. Participants will receive a notification letter two weeks prior to the tax due date.

An ACH form is available on the county website at under “I WantTo/Forms.” The form can be completed and returned to the auditor/treasurer’s office. For more information, call 320-762-3077.
