Get ready for road construction in northwestern Douglas County; work to begin on County Road 1
Delays are likely near Lake Christina, according to Douglas County officials.
Motorists who use County Road 1 near the Douglas and Otter Tail County border will need to plan for delays beginning the week of June 1, according to county officials.
Work will begin to remove the existing asphalt and repave the roadway between County Road 24 and State Highway 78 in Lund Township. The work will include Highway 64 in Otter Tail County, which connects to County Road 1.
The work will be done by low bidder, Mark Sand and Gravel. This is one project in the county’s 2021 Paving Program that has an overall cost of $5.51 million. The road will be open to traffic throughout construction, but drivers can expect to wait as flaggers direct the flow of traffic.
“This project involves two counties, which are working together to ensure efficiency,” said Douglas County Engineer and Public Works Director Tim Erickson. “Douglas County bid the project and will oversee the work. Otter Tail County will then reimburse us for its portion of the project costs.”
