ALEXANDRIA — Mark your calendars to attend the Douglas SWCD free nitrate testing clinic to be held on March 29 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Douglas SWCD Office Building, 900 Robert St. Alexandria. This event will be of interest to anyone who is concerned about nitrate levels in their water, especially in wells.

If you are interested in testing more than just your nitrate levels, there are kits available in the office to take home. There is a cost associated with these take home kits.

To collect a water sample, run your cold tap water for five to ten minutes before collecting about one cup of water. Place the water in a clean jar, container or double bag it in a clean/new zipper plastic bag. The water needs to be collected within one day (24 hours) of the inspection and kept cool.

The event is sponsored by The Douglas SWCD and Minnesota Department of Agriculture.

For more information contact Danielle Anderson, Douglas SWCD, at 320-763-3191 x3, or www.douglasswcd.com .

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
