Ellison leads skiers

Taylor Ellison paced the girls for the Alexandria Nordic ski team this past Tuesday at the Otter Tail Nordic Classic with a third place finish out of 28 skiers.

Taylor Ellison paced the girls for the Alexandria Nordic ski team this past Tuesday at the Otter Tail Nordic Classic with a third place finish out of 28 skiers.

Her time of 19:40 was 14 seconds faster than Bemidji's Maggie Manske, who finished in fourth place.

Not far behind her was Missy Erickson with a time of 21:52. That was good for 10th place. Amanda Schmitz and Lauren Allen also finished with times of 25:17 and 33:03, respectively.

Jeremy Rapp led the way for the boys team with a 14th place finish and a time of 19:42. Mike Erickson was the next highest finisher for Alexandria, coming across in 21:46, good for 21st place.

Nick Anderson and Mitch Evink finished in 23rd and 26th place, respectively.

Nordic ski fans will have a chance to watch the Alexandria skiers perform this weekend when they host the Alexandria Invite at Discovery Middle School.

Races are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
