Erin Ersted, a student at Alexandria Technical and Community College, was awarded a continuing education grant from the Philanthropic Education Organization, or PEO.
Ersted was sponsored by the PEO chapter AO of Alexandria. She’s pursuing a bachelor of science degree in nursing and recently received certification as a licensed practical nurse. It’s a stepping stone to reading her ultimate career goal of being a registered nurse.
The PEO Program for Continuing Education was established in 1973 to provide need-based grants to women in the U.S. and Canada whose education has been interrupted and they find it necessary to return to school to support themselves and their families.
The local Alexandria chapter has been a part of the Alexandria community since it was organized in 1927.
