The Cool School Plunge originally set for January will take place at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12 at Discovery Middle School.

The event is the only fundraiser for every activity at Discovery. A total of 35% of the money raised goes to each sports team or club participating, 15% goes to the Unified Club and the other 50% goes to Special Olympics Minnesota. So far, they have raised $28,900.

"We just may beat our own state record!" said Lukas Gotto, Unified Club advisor.

January's event was postponed due to weather. The March 12 program starts at 1:30 p.m. with Special Olympics Minnesota and plunging starts at 2 p.m. in front of the middle school. The pool will be filled the night before to ensure the water has a chance to chill, Gotto said.

"Last year we had a few hundred parents come and watch their students jump and that was a blast," he said. "We are really hoping to have more this year to keep growing it for our kids."
