The Alexandria School District announced Wednesday evening that it will delay the start of school by two hours on Thursday morning due to the National Weather Service's expectations for blizzard conditions followed by very cold wind chills.
Osakis, Minnewaska Area and Brandon-Evansville schools also announced they are starting school two hours late on Thursday.
The Alexandria district intends to reassess the weather and road conditions in the morning and, in the event any further changes be made to school schedules, will announce that by 8 a.m. It's Compass School-Age Childcare will be open Thursday.
A wind chill warning is in effect for Douglas County through 9 a.m. Thursday, with wind chills of as low as 45 below zero expected.
