The West Central Area Knights took home a third-place team trophy and several ribbons and medals during their first outing of the 2020 speech season.
“It is always exciting to start a new season with new competitors and experienced speakers trying out new categories,” said Coach Kari Kreft. The meet, the Lions' Speech Invitational at Parkers Prairie for grades 7-9, proved "very competitive," Kreft said.
Students received the following honors:
Superior: Callie Glawe, humorous interpretation; Elizabeth Pollard, discussion; Nathan Saulsbury, storytelling.
Second place: Annie Engen, original oratory.
Third place: Kelsey Eystad, extemporaneous speaking; Brian Beyer, humorous interpretation; Spencer Engen, informative speaking.
Fourth place: Parker Stach, humorous interpretation .
Honorable mention: Alexa Blume, creative expression; Isaac Kreft, extemporaneous reading.
