Alexandria Area High School hosted the one-act play 8AA North subsection on Jan. 23, and emerged with first place for the fifth consecutive year.

In winning the six-team competition, Alexandria advances to the section final for at least the ninth straight year. The section final is Thursday, Jan. 30, at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School.

"We have a strong team of students who are committed to doing their best work," AAHS director Jessica Chipman said, noting the evening featured strong plays from Class AA schools. "These are really kind people who are good to each other. It's a pleasure to work with them."

Also advancing were the other two teams as ranked by the judges, Little Falls and Fergus Falls. The other teams competing in the subsection were from Brainerd, Moorhead and Detroit Lakes.

Members of Alexandria's Minnesota State High School League cast and crew are: Isabella Greathouse, Regan Peterson, Georgia Snider, Nick Nelson, Jeryn Drewes, Parker Zwach, Aubrey Kosters, Tai Auran, Hayden Peterson, Noah Capouch, Joslyn Swenson, Matt Adolphsen, Aubrey Minnerath, Caitlin Erickson, Grace Schmidt, Hannah Ward, Jordan Rymer, Bianca Wegner, Sidney Trousil and Ryla Johnson.

The non-MSHSL crew included: Jacob Tiegen, Conner Arndt, Ben Borden, Tayler Huber and Grace Faust.
