Brian Volker of Alexandria was recently named the winner in the National Newspaper Association's (NNA) logo contest for its upcoming convention, which will take place in Minnesota later this year.

Volker, a graphic designer for the Echo Press newspaper, was chosen out of more than 34 entries from Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The Convention Planning Committee from Minnesota sponsored the contest and chose the winning logo, which will be used on all promotional materials, in Publisher's Auxiliary and on shirts for the convention.

Volker's design features the theme - "Explore Ideas in the Land of 10,000 Lakes" - and showcases a typical Minnesota setting complete with a log cabin on the shores of a lake, pine trees, canoe and beautiful sunset in the background.

The dates of the NNA convention - September 25-28, 2008 - were also included in the design.
