Academic honors

  • Two Alexandria students made the fall President's list at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa for earning a perfect 4.0 GPA. They are Jeryn Drewes and Grant Rebrovich.
  • Two Alexandria residents were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, for earning a GPA of at least 3.667. They are sophomore Olivia Logan, majoring in psychology and the child of Jessica and James Logan of Alexandria, and junior Annie Harding, majoring in sonography and the child of Traci and Mike Harding of Alexandria.
  • The following students were named to the fall President's list at Bemidji State University for earning a GPA of 4.0 during the semester. Alexandria: Tiana Heald, Mikenna Pattrin, Warren Schnobrich, Benjamin Voller. Garfield: Jack Powell. Glenwood: Carter Moen.
  • The following students were named to the fall Dean's list at Bemidji State University for earning a GPA between 3.5-3.99 during the semester. Alexandria: Gannon Lueck, Tyler Norum, Tessa Stanek. Brandon: Kiley Lund, Kaleb Pikkaraine. Carlos: Ryan Forster. Glenwood: Angie VanZee. Parkers Prairie: Chentel Lund.
  • Central Lakes College, Brainerd and Staples, has announced its 2022 fall semester honors lists. Michaela Dammann of Alexandria was named to the President's list for earning a GPA of 3.75 to 4.0. Carrson Jones of Alexandria was named to the Dean's list for earning a GPA of 3.25 to 3.74.
  • The following students were named to the fall Dean's list at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota, for earning a GPA of at least 3.7. Alexandria: Heidi Carstensen, Anders Hedstrom, Jacob Partington. Glenwood: Isaac Meyer and Samuel Peters.
  • The following students were named to the fall Dean's list at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota, for earning a GPA of at least 3.5. Alexandria: Matthew Mayer, Daniel Savageau. Lowry: Isabelle Green.
  • The following students were named to the fall Chancellor's list at the University of Minnesota Crookston for earning a 4.0 GPA. Abigail Blank of Alexandria, marketing; Bailey Schaefer of Brandon, sport & recreation management and Alex Koep, Parkers Prairie, natural resources.
  • Ridgewater College in Willmar named the following students to its fall Deans’ list for earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Alexandria: Annalise Brede. Glenwood: Brenda Ellendson, Lauren Hirschey, Riley Johnson, Brooke Pitzen, Carson Tauber.
  • Keagan Schiele of Alexandria was named to the fall Dean's list at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota for maintaining a semester GPA of 3.50 or better.
  • Trenton Hohn of Alexandria was named to the spring 2022 Dean's list at the University of Iowa in Iowa City for earning a GPA of at least 3.5. Hohn is a first year student in Iowa's College of Engineering and is majoring in chemical engineering.
  • Trenton Hohn of Alexandria, a chemical engineering student, and Caris Pass of Alexandria were named to the fall Dean's list at Iowa State University in Iowa City for earning a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
  • Samuel Fuller and Kristen Kokett, both of Evansville, and Alec Larson of Glenwood were named to the fall Dean's list at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., for earning at least a 3.5 grade point average.

Graduations

  • Jackson Wichtendahl of Alexandria graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in December with a bachelor of science degree in exercise science
  • Amy Jacobson, daughter of Joe and Jill Jacobson of Alexandria, graduated from Bethel University in St. Paul following the fall 2022 semester. Jacobson earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.

Scholarships

  • Carter DuBord and Wyatt Krick of Alexandria were among 22 Minnesota students who won scholarships from the Minnesota Sheriff's Association. The scholarships go to students who plan to become peace officers. Applications are through the local sheriff's office.

Other honors

  • Myra Nelson of Alexandria performed the rock musical Spring Awakening at Gustavus Adolphus College in February. The musical explores coming of age and autonomy through love and friendship.
  • Greta Oldenkamp, an Alexandria Area High School junior, received the State ExCEL award in February.

    ExCEL stands for Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership. Offered by the Minnesota State High School League for Minnesota high school juniors, the award recognizes students who are active in school activities, show leadership qualities, and work voluntarily in their community. Gretta will be recognized along with the other state award winners on 45TV during the broadcasts of the 2023 winter tournaments. They also will participate in an on-court award ceremony during the Class AA championship game of the Girls Basketball State Tournament in March. Greta is the daughter of Sara and Tim Oldenkamp.
