Academic honors

  • Avery Hagstrom of Alexandria was named to the 2022 fall semester Dean’s list at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, for earning a GPA of 3.5 or better.
  • The following students were named to the fall Dean's list at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, for earning a GPA of 3.75 or higher: Alexandria: Maddie Holtz (parents David and Nicole Holtz); Glenwood: Sam Morton (parents Robert and Susan Morton); Parkers Prairie: Emily Hagel (parents Robert Hagel and Debra Glander).
  • The following area students earned a spot on the fall Dean's list at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for achieving a GPA of at least 3.5. Alexandria: Bethany Miller, biochemistry; Glenwood: Olivia Clouse, biology; Miltona: Hailie Kent, management.
  • Minnesota State University, Mankato, announced that the following students were named to its fall Dean's list. Its High Honor list requires a GPA of 4.0, and its Honor List requires a GPA of 3.5 to 3.99. Alexandria: Joseph Bigger, Honor list; Carley Burns, High Honor list; Megan Schultz, Honor list; Kaci Trosvig, Honor list. Brandon: Kailee Klimek, Honor list; Kennedy Quinn, Honor list. Glenwood: Madelyn McGinty, Honor list. Miltona: Mackenzie Hagen, Honor list. Osakis: Luke Nessman, High Honor list.
  • Abby Snider and Sidney Trousil of Alexandria were named to the fall Dean's list at Hamline University for earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • The University of North Dakota in Grand Forks named the following students to its fall Dean’s list for earning GPAs in the top 15% of enrollment. Alexandria: Tyler Bright, Aliejah Castle, Ailynn Fettig, Mason Gray, Benjamin Kakac, Teagan Pfeffer, Alexis Rehovsky, Maya Swenson. Brandon: Korrie Randt. Evansville: Jaden Norby. Glenwood: Riley Guza, Robson Emmil Montenegro. Hoffman: Emma Swenson. Kensington: Alexis Bright. Osakis: Lexi Spychalla, Mara Vannyhuis.
  • The University of North Dakota in Grand Forks named the following students to its fall President's Roll of Honor for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or higher. Alexandria: Mason Gray. Brandon: Korrie Randt and Kobe Reiland. Hoffman: Emma Swenson.
  • Central Lakes College of Brainerd and Staples has named two Alexandria students to its fall honors lists. Micheala Dammann was named to the President's list for earning a GPA of at least 3.75 and Carrson Jones was named to the Dean's list for earning a GPA of 3.25 to 3.74.

Graduations

  • Kerstyn Schroeder of Brandon and Tessa Aspseter of Glenwood graduated from St. Cloud State University in fall 2022. Schroeder graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in management. Aspseter graduated with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology.
  • North Dakota State University in Fargo announced the fall graduations of the following students. Alexandria: Maddy Dahlseid, bachelor's in psychology; Megan Maureen Fletcher, bachelor's in marketing; Anna Joy, bachelor's in nursing, with honors; Adam Gregory Klepetka, bachelor's in English, with honors; Christopher James Krueger, bachelor's in finance; Kelby Peterson, bachelor's in sport management; Abigail Sater, bachelor's in psychology, with honors. Garfield: Alexis Schmitz, master's in criminal justice administration. Glenwood: Jack Blevins, bachelor's in horticulture; Evan Garrett Palmer, bachelor's in finance, with honors; Ella Richards, bachelor's in human development and family science. Villard: Shawn Scott Carsten, bachelors in business administration.
  • The following students graduated this winter from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Alexandria: Alexis Rehovsky, bachelor of science, cum laude. Garfield: Katherine Wussow, master of social work. Glenwood: Abbie Massmann, master of social work.

Scholarships

  • Tucker Olson, a student at Alexandria Technical & Community College, won the Kenneth Malcolm Holloman Jr. Memorial scholarship, which is awarded to students studying woodwork or carpentry at a trade school. Olson was name the top of three scholarship recipients and received $668. He was the only recipient from Minnesota.
