ALEXANDRIA — The Douglas County Corn & Soybean Growers and the corn check-off dollars are supporting the Outreach Food Shelf in Alexandria by donating $250 to help those struggling with hunger this season.

“With rural communities facing challenges of food security, more people found themselves turning to food sectors for help. Our local food bank does a tremendous work and we wanted to step up alongside them to help families in our community,” Deb Johnson, director of the county organization, said in a press release.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
