The 34th annual Art in the Park was held July 25-26 at City Park in Alexandria. Along with various artists displaying their creative wares, there were several featured entertainers. Tom Strohmyer - Wonderful World of Woody - entertained the crowds with his eclectic act of juggling, magic tricks, movie music trivia, singing and saxophone playing. Artist Nathan Lueth (below) drew several interested onlookers as he sketched a caricature of this youngster.

Art in the Park is the major fundraiser of the year for the Alexandria Area Arts Association. Proceeds are used to maintain and improve the AAAA Theatre. The fine arts and crafts show has grown from about 15 vendors back in 1976 to about 180. The event was originally held at Legion Park, but now takes place along the tree-shaded shores of Lake Agnes and Lake Henry in City Park.
