An Alexandria man was arrested earlier this month and charged with two felonies in relation to an alleged sexting incident.
Ryan Anthony Feiler, 26, was charged on Thursday, Aug. 12 with felony electronic solicitation of a child — engage in communication with a child relating to or describing sexual conduct, and felony electronic solicitation of a child — distributing obscene material via electronic communication relating to or describing sexual conduct.
Both charges carry a maximum sentence of three years imprisonment and a $5,000 fine.
Feiler appeared in court via Zoom on Wednesday, Aug. 25 for a Rule 8 hearing, which advises defendants of their rights and allows them to plead guilty, or request or waive an omnibus hearing.
According to the statement of probable cause, the charges stem from a series of incidents that took place in July, when Feiler allegedly sent sexual messages and videos to a 14-year-old girl via Snapchat.
In court documents, Feiler is described as "sort of a family friend."
