A male suspect has been arrested in connection with a robbery at Affinity Credit Union in Alexandria.

Police Chief Rick Wyffels said the arrest is in conjunction to a larger investigation involving the FBI. Six additional jurisdictions have had similar robberies throughout the past two months, Wyffels said in a news release issued Monday afternoon, Sept. 9.

At this time, no names are being released as the investigation and details coming from it are still ongoing.

More information from the FBI is expected to be released this week. The case is expected to be charged federally.

The robbery was reported at 4:24 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29. The suspect handed a bank employee a note that demanded money and the note indicated he had a gun, according to Wyffels. No weapon was displayed or used, the chief added.

The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money.
