A community meeting will be held Saturday, April 6 to provide information regarding an industrial swine facility in Todd County.
A group called "Minnesotans Fighting for Minnesota" will host the community education event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sheila's Place, 17866 County Road 18 Northeast in Eagle Bend.
Organizers have invited the following guest speakers:
- Chris Peterson, Iowa sustainable swine producer, representative of Socially Responsible Agricultural Project, board member of Organization for Competitive Markets, and past-president of the Iowa Farmer's Union.
- Karen Hudson, Illinois farmer, representative of Socially Responsible Agricultural Project, co-founder of Illinois Citizens for Clean Air and Water.

A hog facility that will house nearly 3,990 swine is under construction near the intersection of Todd County County Roads 1 and 65 in Leslie Township.
Amy Goodwin, local resident and member of Minnesotans Fighting for Minnesota, noted that the proposal is of great concern to the local community, experts and environmental and public health advocates.
