ALEXANDRIA — Viking Sportsmen, Inc., is hosting a fishing event called Clean Out the Bemo on March 19 and 26. The event will be held at Bemo Pond, with unlimited fishing time both days.

The event is open to people of all ages and aims to involve families of members, potential new members and volunteers of Viking Sportsmen. New member sign-up sheets will be available on-site.

Participants are asked to meet in the Lure Lakebar parking lot, and then carpool to the pond. Augers will be available, but participants must provide their own fishing equipment and fish houses.

A tailgate-type lunch will be provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days of the event.

The target species of the event is rainbow trout, and every fish caught will result in a prize.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
