City of Alexandria wants feedback on authorizing a deer hunt within city limits

Should an archery deer hunt be allowed in the city limits of Alexandria?

Residents will have a chance to give their opinion on the issue during a public input session at the Alexandria City Council meeting on Monday, April 26 at 7:15 p.m.

For several months, the council has discussed the possibility of authorizing a municipal deer hunt. Concerns have been raised about the number of deer in the city limits and damage to property.

City staff researched how other cities conduct municipal deer hunts and provided these links:

City of Bemidji

City of Grand Rapids

Representatives from the Viking Sportsman and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will attend the meeting to offer insights.

The goal of the input session is to provide further direction to the council as to whether to pursue a municipal deer hunt.
