It was a day to remember for Alexandria dance fans last Saturday as the Cardinals hosted the their largest invitational ever at Jefferson High School.
Twenty-seven schools were in attendance, and the host Cardinals did not disappoint their home-town fans in the high kick where they took home a third place trophy for their performance.
The scores from five judges at the competition were the team's highest ever, ranging from the high 60s to a 73. Chaska and Sartell were the only two schools out of the 10 teams in the Class AA/AAA high kick to finish ahead of Alexandria.
The Cardinals also finished fifth out of nine teams in the Class AA/AAA jazz division.
"Having just finished putting together their jazz routine, the team was very pleased with the outcome," coach Christine Reilly said.

The Cardinals will try to carry the momentum from last Saturday's competition into St. Cloud with them this Thursday when they compete in a dual meet in high kick at Apollo.
