Andes Tower Hills west of Alexandria was able to get an early jump on the ski season.
Approximately 100 people were at the ski lodge on Sunday, Nov. 14 skiing and snowboarding, according to Andes.
They came from Fargo, Minneapolis and other local towns to be a part of Andes Tower Hills being rewarded as the first ski resort open in the entire Midwest.
Manager Tom Anderson credited his snowmaking crew as making the award possible. "The guys started making snow at 10 p.m. Friday night (Nov. 12) and made enough snow to open one run by Sunday," Anderson said.
The company called Midwestskiers.com is stationed in Ohio and traveled to the resort to film a story about the first place finish.
