Alexandria man dies in rollover

A 35-year-old Alexandria man died in a one-vehicle rollover early this morning, Sunday, March 15.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, James Lee Blanchette Jr., who was formerly of Florissant, Colorado, was pronounced dead at scene.

The crash took place at about 1:30 a.m. just west of County Road 15 on County Road 82 west of Brandon.

A passenger in the vehicle, Darren Zastrow, 36, of Alexandria, was transported to Douglas County Hospital.

It appeared both men were ejected from the vehicle and it does not appear they were wearing seat belts, according to the sheriff's report.

The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Minnesota State Patrol, North Ambulance, Brandon Fire Department and Brandon First Responders.
